The UN International Day of People with Disability has been celebrated each year on 3 December since 1981. This year’s theme – The Future is Accessible – provides an opportunity to refresh our mindsets that people with disabilities can make a valued contribution to our families, churches, communities and neighbourhoods. More importantly, to look ahead and reimagine how our families, churches, communities and neighbourhoods can be accessible places for people with disabilities into the future.
The Nathaniel Centre – New Zealand’s Catholic Bioethics Centre, in partnership with L’Arche Kāpiti, The Catholic Institute of Aotearoa New Zealand and the Catholic Archdiocese of Wellington, will be hosting a public event to celebrate the day. All are warmly invited to attend on Tuesday, 3 December, 12pm and 1pm, Connolly Hall, 10 Guildford Ter, Thorndon, Wellington. Light refreshments will be served.
