A call to pray for Iraq and the Middle East

Worldwide calls for prayers for peace in Iraq and the Middle East continue.
We offer our prayers amidst so much conflict and pray that all who suffer may know we have not forgotten them.
As Pope Francis says: ‘Brothers and sisters, no more war! No more war! Above all I think of the children, those who have been denied hope of a decent life, of a future: dead children, wounded children, maimed children, orphaned children, children who have remnants of war as toys, children who don’t know how to smile. Please stop! I ask you with all my heart, it’s time to stop! Stop please!’
Let us join our prayers with those of Pope Francis. We present this prayer for peace from Patriarch Louis Raphael Sako, President of the Assembly of Catholic Bishops in Iraq.
Lord, the plight of our country is deep, and the suffering of Christians is severe and frightening.
Therefore, we ask you Lord to spare our lives, and to grant us patience, and courage to continue our witness of Christian values with trust and hope.
Lord, peace is the foundation of life; Grant us the peace and stability that will enable us to live with each other without fear and anxiety, and with dignity and joy.
Glory be to you forever.
