Parish groups, agencies and church organisations are being asked to identify and support parish groups that need funding to provide a helping hand to families in their midst.
This is to make use of the Tindall Foundation Fund which the Warehouse founder Stephen Tindall and his wife Margaret established in 1995.
The Tindalls aimed to support initiatives in New Zealand which help families and communities to help themselves and to heal problems rather than manage them.
The vision for the Tindall Foundation is to play a supportive role in the philanthropic sector in New Zealand.
They collaborate with others working in this field, as well as drawing on the knowledge, professionalism and expertise of the not-for-profit sector in the allocation of donations.
The Tindall Foundation makes an annual grant to the New Zealand Catholic Bishops Conference which then allocates the funds through diocesan agents.
Recently Archbishop John Dew established a Tindall Allocations Committee for the archdiocese.
Kathy Whelan (Catholic Foundation/Catholic Homes Trust) and David Mullin (recently appointed director for projects) at the Catholic Centre will provide oversight and administrative support for the committee.
David Mullin says that as a newly established group the Archdiocesan Tindall Allocations Committee are looking for help.
Applications for Tindall funding through the archdiocese have been streamlined and groups are encouraged to look creatively for ways that they may fulfil criteria for funding.
