New Zealand Faith Community Nursing Association (NZFCNA) is a national Christian organisation that equips nurses to serve in their communities. NZFCNA is holding its 2014 conference, ‘Sustainability of Practice’, in Wellington, 11–13 September, at Wellington Cathedral of St Paul’s Loaves and Fishes Cafe. Registration after 1 August is $200. A conference scholarship is available for application from those who have an interest in Faith Community Nursing but have no experience.
Christian nurses are in a unique and privileged position as they are bilingual in faith and health. As nursing professionals they can serve an important role in the community, promoting health and wellbeing through education, advocacy and care management as well as providing pastoral support through a church fellowship.
Whether it is guiding someone through the healthcare system, or sharing their journey of faith, Faith Community Nurses are passionate about providing holistic healthcare.
Conference 2014 scholarship
Applications for a conference scholarship are invited from those who have an interest in Faith Community Nursing but no experience. The scholarship will provide up to $700 to cover registration, travel and accommodation to attend the conference.
Applicants should be Registered Nurses, graduated within last five years and with no previous attendance at the conference or ongoing contact with any Faith Community Nursing organisation. The successful applicant will have to provide receipts for travel and accommodation, attend the whole of conference and write a report afterwards for the NZFCNA newsletter.
To apply, submit the following details to admin.faithnursing@xtra.co.nz: your name, address, email and contact phone numbers; details of your church including contact name, address and phone number; a copy of your current New Zealand practicing certificate; and a paragraph of up to 300 words saying why you would like to attend.
