To seek God in all things is the goal of St Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, shares with Christian life communities which meet regularly in Wellington.
The World CLC originated in an earlier form in 1563 and was confirmed by the Vatican in 1990. We are guided by the spiritual exercises composed by Ignatius, in ‘finding God in all things’, in every situation of our daily life. We come together in small communities to pray on the gospel, letting our imagination lead us to visualise what God wants us to do.
Our life is essentially apostolic, aware of the pressing need to work for justice through a preferential option for the poor and a simple lifestyle. So commitment to CLC is a journey of community, prayer and mission, in which we use the process of discerning, sending on mission, supporting one another and evaluating in a continuing cycle.
We pray daily on an allocated scripture, and reflect on related formation material. We meet fortnightly to share on where the Lord is leading us. We offer sessions on aspects of Ignatian spirituality, most recently in last October.
We are supported in our mission with an annual retreat given by Jesuits and lay guides. This year the retreat takes place in October 2011. Currently, there are two local groups, in Northland and Brooklyn, with other new groups in Palmerston North and Northcote.
If you want something more from your faith, come and see – we would love to share our treasure with you.
