The foyer of Our Lady of Fatima church in Waikanae was transformed on Tuesday, September 13, when more than 120 people came together for a ‘cafe’ evening.
People had been promised a night of enjoyment and fun combined with faith exploration and fulfilment; a number said how much they had enjoyed the evening and that they would be back in the following weeks.
The setting with its 16 tables and white tablecloths, flowers, candles and supper was stunning, the result of tremendous behind-the-scenes work by Kathy Campbell and the rest of the Waikanae Parish Council team and Pat and Joyce Haughey of the Paraparaumu PC team.
Bob Houston of Waikanae hosted the session and entertained and challenged the gathering on a variety of issues.
A number of people related personal stories of faith and their relationship with God in lively discussions.
An inspiring presentation on DVD featuring the director of the founding body, Catholic Evangelism Services, Westminster, David Payne, formed the framework for the evening which started at 7.15. As promised the cafe’s guests were exiting the church foyer by 9pm.
So for Café Kapiti it’s onwards and upwards, every Tuesday evening from 7.15, until October 25.
