Bridgett, a dedicated volunteer with Catholic Social Services since October 2021, was nominated for the Mitre 10 MEGA Volunteer of the Year Award at the 2024 Mahi Aroha Awards.
Bridgett has served as a Seasons for Growth Companion, a role she first trained for in 2010 for the Adult Programme and again in 2022 for the Children and Young Persons’ Programme.
Over the past year, Bridgett has tirelessly promoted and led the Seasons for Growth programme in rest homes and retirement communities. Her commitment to supporting individuals through significant life changes and losses is evident in her work, where she creates a nurturing space for adults to share their feelings, experiences, and coping strategies.

“Attending the Mahi Aroha Awards 2024 on Thursday, 20th June was a truly inspiring experience! This special evening was dedicated to celebrating the outstanding volunteers in our community, and it was wonderful to highlight the efforts of Catholic Social Services Seasons For Growth Volunteer, Bridgett.
Although Bridgett did not win, it was a joy to be there with her and recognize her incredible contribution. Her dedication and hard work exemplify the spirit of volunteerism that strengthens our community.
The evening was heart-warming, filled with stories of people generously donating their time and skills to support various causes. It was a perfect opportunity to express our gratitude to all the volunteers who make such a significant difference in our lives.
We were also treated to an amazing performance by Karori Normal School’s Kapa Haka Seniors, which added to the celebratory atmosphere of the night. Their talent and energy were truly impressive and made the event even more memorable.
Thank you to all the volunteers for your unwavering dedication and hard work. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and our community is stronger because of you!
