Principals’ appraisals are usually interesting affairs but they don’t always come as intriguing for Michele Lafferty, manager of Catholic schools, as when she interviewed Bernadette Murfitt of St Francis Xavier School, Tawa, last month. The school was having a book character day and Bernadette was the wicked queen from ‘Snow White’. But she says her character did not influence her answers at all. The school had a week of celebration with inter-class activities, visits from politicians, quizzes and games, and a scholastic book fair to boost the library.
