21 member and friends of the Catholic Women’s League recently gathered together to celebrate their 73rd Birthday at Taste Amazing.

The Catholic Women’s League (CWL) Lower Hutt Branch includes the four Parishes of Ss Peter and Paul, St Martin de Porres, St Michael and St Bernadette and also includes members from other parishes. The group is open to any women from any Parish in the Hutt Valley.

The Branch has been active with supplying Emergency Bags for patients MAPU at Hutt Hospital each month. Branch members have also knitted beanies and slippers to enable children in schools to keep warm during the Winter months. Members have also helped with serving the soup on Wednesdays during the Winter months at Ss Peter and Paul Church.

CWL have two Mission Stations in Fiji and the Solomon Islands and the Lower Hutt Branch have provided assistance to enable their Fijian Mission to purchase a washing machine. In the Solomon Islands, they have financially supported girls to enable them to have higher education. The Branch also attends CWL Regional Meetings and the CWL National Conference.

The group meet monthly on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Each meeting usually has a guest speaker, followed by morning tea and general chit chat. If you are interested in joining this active group, please contact: The Secretary, Lynette Murphy on lynette.murphy@xtra.co.nz
