Challenge 2000 has unveiled a cross specially carved and adorned with the names of significant people associated with the organisation over its 25 years.
Social worker Kitty McKinley started Challenge 2000 in the Johnsonville presbytery to support young people in their quest for dignity and justice.
Over the years Challenge has accompanied many into a fuller working or student life, helping them reconcile with their whanau and develop their skills and gain a sense of their place in the world.
At the unveiling, Fr Denis O’Hagan sm spoke of the place of the cross in the life of Challenge.
Asked to bless it, he said that its history within the organisation and connection with people whose names are engraved around it, meant that those gathered should ask the cross to bless them.
