WelCom October 2017:

More than 100 people attended a women’s interfaith event on 24 August at the Palmerston North city library, organised by the Palmerston North Interfaith Group. Entitled ‘Interfaith women resist the culture of hatred and fear’, seven women from different faith traditions spoke about ‘Sharing different faith perspectives on building bridges of trust, friendship and love’.

Telling their stories with care, understanding and an honest reality were: Joanne Wilson, Representative of the Bahá’í Faith; Hadassah bat Avrohom uVatsheva, Council of Jewish Women; Heba Hegazi, Manawatu Muslim Association; Jenny Boyack, All Saints Anglican Church; Jan McPherson, Amitabha Buddhist Centre; Wibha Desai, Massey University Hindu Forum; Gurveer Kaur, Dera Sacha Sauda Social Welfare and Spiritual Organisation.

The women’s major goal was to spread their words of ‘building bridges of trust, friendship and love’ across the world by individual acceptance, community acceptance and then national and international acceptance of these principles of life. They each explained their own and their faith’s commitment to those principals.
