A hunger for spiritual nourishment is evident in the fact that the Retreat in Daily Life team’s schedule is fully booked for next year.
The members of the team gathered recently at the Cenacle to participate in a Day of Reflection – a fruitful day together which Joy Cowley led.
The springboard was focusing on ‘our place’, and in particular, places that were significant for each of the group. This led to a rich sharing that encompassed not only Aotearoa but also some of the Pacific. We were reminded frequently of the power of place and of the meanings that places have in our lives.
The day was sprinkled with opportunities for prayer, reflection and conversation on areas such as the growth indicators in our lives, light and shadows—that part of self which we like least and which holds the seeds of growth—and distinction between the ‘voice of love’ and the ‘voice of fear’ in our lives.
Before the end of this year, there will be Retreats in Daily Life in Stokes Valley parish, Plimmerton area and Newtown-Island Bay Pastoral Area.
